Autograph book attributed to Marguerite Gertrude Buckhous. She was the only student named Gertrude to be enrolled in the Collegiate Dept. of the University of Montana in 1895, and there are numerous autographs from young women from prominent Missoula families who also enrolled at that time.

Marguerite Gertrude Buckhous was born in her family home south of Missoula on an unknown date. She became the librarian at The University of Montana in September 1902 and continued until her death in 1931. She first joined the University when it opened in the old Willard School as a student in its preparatory department in 1895.
